Bio:

 

Dr. Darren A. Raspa currently serves as the historian for the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Phillips Research Site in New Mexico and coordinator for AFRL’s Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) education and outreach programs for area schools and museums. During his tenure as Laboratory Historian, Raspa has produced several studies pertaining to the history of Space Vehicles and Directed Energy and the Laboratory's development since its origins as the Cambridge Field Station in 1945. In addition to being a historian of science, technology, and defense, Raspa is also an historian of criminal justice in the North American West and the author of Bloody Bay: Grassroots Policing in Nineteenth-Century San Francisco (Univ. Nebraska Press, 2020). He is currently writing the biography of General Samuel C. Phillips, who held a seminal role in developing the modern Air and Space Force.
